About Dr. Eikrem

David Eikrem, D.D.S. Orthodontist

David Eikrem attended Oregon State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He was the first resident of the State of Oregon to be admitted to the UCLA School of Dentistry, a school that perennially has among the highest requirements for admission in the nation. He graduated with distinction, receiving the International College of Dentists Award for excellence. Dr. Eikrem then practiced general dentistry in the Portland, Oregon area for nine years before entering the orthodontic residency program at Oregon Health Sciences University.

Not only is Dr. Eikrem the only full-time orthodontist practicing in the Longview-Kelso area, he is also the only orthodontist in Southwest Washington, from Olympia to the Oregon border, who is lifetime certified through an intense examination process by the American Board of Orthodontics. The process of becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics requires passing a written examination, passing an examination by oral interview with a panel of orthodontic experts and presenting completed cases that represent the full range of orthodontic problems. Relatively few orthodontists practicing in the State of Washington have successfully completed the requirements to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

To stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the dental and orthodontic fields, Dr. Eikrem holds memberships in many professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Board of Orthodontics, the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association and the Lower Columbia District Dental Society. He has also served his local dental community as a past president of the Lower Columbia District Dental Society.

Dr. Eikrem’s general practice experience gives him years of firsthand involvement in treating the whole spectrum of dental needs and knowledge of how orthodontic treatment best fits within the larger picture of dental health. It also enables him to communicate effectively with family dentists and better understand how to integrate orthodontic treatment with complicated restorative treatment needs. When Dr. Eikrem designs an orthodontic treatment plan, it is with the long-term, best interests of the patient’s entire dentition in mind.

Dr. Eikrem and his family live in Longview and are involved members of the community. They support local activities, fundraisers and charitable organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Longview Noon Rotary Club and on the Board of the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts.
